The Ohio Department of Education has developed Early Learning Development Standards for Preschool Children in English language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.  These standards are statements that describe the knowledge and skills young children should learn, with adult guidance, before entering kindergarten.  At RRCP, we use these standards as one of many tools to help our children achieve success inside and outside the classroom.  Along with the state standards we also utilize The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, which is a comprehensive, research-based curriculum designed to help educators plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program for children.  The Handwriting Without Tears curriculum is used in all of our classrooms.  This program uses techniques and activities that help improve a child’s early self-confidence, pencil grip, and body awareness skills  Multi-sensory techniques and consistent habits for letter formation are used to help all children learn handwriting—starting in preschool!
